Israel and Hamas agree on hostage release
Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas have agreed on the first phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan. This means that all 48 hostages still being held by Hamas will be handed over to Israel. According to current information, 20 of them are still alive.
On his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump wrote: “I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed the first phase of our peace plan. This means that ALL hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw its troops to an agreed-upon line as the first steps toward a strong, lasting and everlasting peace.
All parties will be treated fairly! This is a GREAT day for the Arab and Muslim world, Israel, all surrounding nations and the United States of America, and we thank the mediators from Qatar, Egypt and Turkey who worked with us to make this historic and unprecedented event possible. Blessed be the peacemakers.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu thanked President Trump for his commitment and stated that he would submit the agreement to his government for approval today, Thursday.
This means that the first phase of US President Trump’s 20-point peace plan can be implemented. The other points include disarming Hamas, demilitarizing Gaza, creating a security force with the involvement of Arab states and setting up a new civilian administration that does not include Hamas and, at least until further notice, the Palestinian Authority, which governs the West Bank, and is overseen by a peace council headed by President Trump. In return, Israel must continue to withdraw from Gaza in stages.
Israel has already agreed to these other points of the peace plan. Hamas has not yet commented on this.
