10 truths about Gaza that are currently not being heard
An analysis by BILD.de
The images from Gaza are hard to bear. Shattered homes, starving children, desperate parents – the suffering of civilians is real, deep and daily. Anyone who does not feel compassion here has lost all empathy. No human being should have to live like this. No child should grow up in ruins. This war must end – the sooner the better. But anyone who looks must also name who has caused the suffering and who is unscrupulously exploiting it for their own ends.
1 Hamas wants the population to starve
Last week provided a particularly revealing moment: for the first time since the outbreak of war, Israel allowed food to be delivered directly to the people of Gaza – without handing over the aid to Hamas. The reaction: hysterical rage from the terrorists and their sympathizers, even death threats against anyone who dared to accept bread, pasta and flour.
Why? Because a business model worth millions is shaky. Because Hamas has been enriching itself with humanitarian aid for decades, selling on food at exorbitant prices, among other things, and thus financing terror – and the wealth of its leaders.
What’s more, starving people are more effective in the media. And easier to manipulate. The fact that even UN representatives criticized this Hamas-free supply once again shows the depth of their complicity.
2 Germany is partly to blame for the Gaza disaster
The Western world had Hamas’ back while the terrorists turned the coastal strip into a terror nest undisturbed. It was no secret that Hamas dug hundreds of kilometers of tunnels and set up shop in hospitals, kindergartens and residential buildings.
And what did Europe do? Continued to transfer money. Billions to aid organizations that looked the other way or played along. The result: Hamas was able to prepare for October 7 in peace. A humanitarian blank check for terror.
3. the Hamas logic is: the more suffering, the better
The suffering of Palestinian children is Hamas’ strongest weapon against Israel. That is why the terrorists have dug themselves in among them, using them as shields, that is why they want their own population to starve.
Because they know what makes the West tick: The greater the suffering of Palestinian civilians, the greater the pressure on Israel. This is precisely why Gaza must be liberated from Hamas rule.
Conversely, does this mean that Israel acts flawlessly? Of course not. Can Israel’s military actions and the government be criticized harshly, even very harshly? Yes, of course! Incidentally, so do countless Israeli experts and politicians, with the difference that they suggest alternatives and don’t just raise their index finger from a safe distance. No, Israel doesn’t do everything right. But the difference with Hamas is: Israel wants to do the right thing in the first place.
4. those who only call for a “ceasefire” are giving Hamas a breather
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul and others are calling for Israel to pause. Sounds civilized – but it is cynical. Every pause means Hamas can recover, reorganize, repair tunnels and plan the next 7 October. This is not a peace strategy, it is a guarantee of terror. Anyone who doesn’t want to see this is living in a comfortable Berlin bubble. The structures are there, the will to destroy is there, the international naivety is unfortunately also there. Without the removal of Hamas from power, there will never be a sustainable reconstruction of Gaza, never a life of dignity and prosperity for the population.
And if Israel is not allowed to end the reign of terror in the Palestinian territory, someone else will have to do it.
5 The West has no Gaza plan – only demands on Israel
It’s easy to call for a ceasefire. Where is the Gaza plan from Merz, Wadephul and co? What should happen if Israel withdraws? Hamas remains in power and – as some are demanding – may even be rewarded with its own state for its terror. What kind of entity would that be? Certainly not a second Riviera, but Kabul on the Mediterranean. Democracy: undesirable. Women’s rights: extinguished. Coexistence: never intended.
And no, it is not a “genocide” that is taking place in Gaza. Because Israel does not want to wipe out the Palestinian people – but to smash a terrorist organization that has announced a second Holocaust. Gaza could be like Tel Aviv: modern, open, full of life. Instead, it is a hostage zone, controlled by a cult of death. The same Islamism that murders in Europe and propagates “caliphate is the solution”.
6 Hamas wins the information war
The military battle is only one front. The other is media, emotional and ideological. And on this front, unfortunately, Hamas is the winner. Because many Western media still accept the Hamas-controlled “Ministry of Health” as a source, even though it repeatedly spreads war lies. Because every dead civilian is blamed on Israel without being asked, even if the evidence is lacking, as was recently the case with an alleged Israeli “massacre” in front of an aid center.
Because many media in this country even uncritically quote the “Hamas civil defense”. This suggests to Germans that the Islamist terrorists are protecting their civilians, although the exact opposite is the case – a propaganda victory for Hamas.
7 The hostages – removed from the debate
Almost 60 hostages – including Germans – are still being held by Hamas. They are being tortured, abused and mistreated. And yet they and the many people murdered have almost completely disappeared from the public debate. Because they show who started this war – and why Israel is fighting.
8 Hamas is not the population? Unfortunately it is more complicated
“Hamas is not the population” – that sounds reassuring, but is often self-deception. Decades of indoctrination by a regime that carries on the intellectual legacy of the National Socialists have had an effect. Even small children practice in school theater how to murder Jews or blow themselves up. The jubilation over the massacre on October 7 was not an aberration. The population looked the other way – or enthusiastically joined in the murder. Gaza needs more than food. It needs liberation. Detoxification. Political denazification – like Germany after 1945.
9 The Arab world is not helping – and no one is asking why
While Israel is put under pressure and expected to justify itself morally, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia & Co remain conspicuously silent. No uprising against Hamas. No acceptance of refugees. No real initiatives for peace. Arab solidarity ends at the (well-secured) border. Because you know exactly who you are dealing with in Hamas. But the West prefers to keep an eye on Israel – instead of stepping on the toes of its own “partners”.
10 Muslim victims are only of interest if Israel is involved
Millions of Muslims have been killed – in Syria, in Iraq, in Iran, in Yemen, in Nigeria, in Afghanistan, in Myanmar, in China. But no demonstrations. No outcry. No boycotts. No hashtags. Only when Jews are involved – as defenders of their own state – does it become a global sensation. This selective outrage exposes itself: It’s not about human rights. It’s about Israel.
